Based in Tampa, Florida, Tampa Deep Sea Xplorers LLC (TDSX) manufactures Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUV). We are passionate about underwater exploration and discovery. This is reflected in our products which enhance scientific data collection in the ocean down to 4000 meters. We provide deep sea vehicles that are both robust and affordable for individuals and small institutions.
The National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) participation in the Nippon Foundation-GEBCO Seabed 2030 Project aims to synthesize bathymetric data while mapping all of the world’s ocean floors by the year 2030. To realize this goal within the designated time frame, thousands of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles will be required and they will need to collect data at a rate that is an order of magnitude greater than what is currently on the market. TDSX’s is excited to meet these challenges and motto of “Deeper, Faster, and Cheaper” recognizes that new technologies will be required that far exceed the capabilities of existing systems.
Tampa Deep Sea Xplorers is a registered LLC in the State of Florida and consists of a small team of individuals who are committed to advancing state-of-the-art of deep sea exploration. Formed for the purpose of competing in the Shell Ocean Discovery XPRIZE, the TBDSX team was awarded “Runner Up” in the NOAA Challenge portion and was one of seventeen semi-finalist teams in the overall competition. The hardware used in the competition is of our own design and is proprietary to TDSX. Patent application number 16/173,567 has been published by the USPTO and is publication number US-2019-0127034-A1 and is specific to our Barracuda AUV™ design.
